Here are some stories by Uncle Vlad and fiends.. oh, I mean friends, of Uncle Vlad. They are best read by flashlight in the dark, or course. Or ...sigh... I suppose you could just read them off the screen.
Some are scary, and some not-so-scary. Guess which one Uncle Vlad and Aunt Viper like best?
I am a little ghost
I’ve finished all my toast
I’ve nothing left to boast
And I’m so loooonly.
I try to talk to friends
Who can’t see me and when
They feel my chill on them
run so far awaaayyyy.
I chase them all and cry
“You don’t have to fly,”
And the more they run I try
To catch them ‘fore they gooooo.
But it’s never any good
Flying through the wood
Acting as I should
They never stop to plaaayyy.
So that’s the way it goes
This ghost does what he knows
And spends his nights with crows
‘Cause they don’t run awaaaayyy.
There was once a girl who wore a green ribbon
‘round her neck so exceedingly fair
And everyone who saw her came up and asked
“Hey, what’s that ribbon doing there?”
“Oh, it holds on my head,” young Jenny would say,
“For without it, my head would fall.”
And everyone laughed because of her joke
And no one believed her at all.
The ribbon was soiled and so dirty
Never did it seem to be washed
And everyone stared and snickered at her
But Jenny would not have it be tossed.
Then one day a school bully named Victor
Took it upon himself to be bold
And planned to snatch the green ribbon away
To see if it would do as foretold.
He wanted to steal it at recess
So everyone could see instead
That Jenny was just a silly ol’ millie
And the ribbon wasn’t holding her head.
But Jenny had heard all the rumors
And heard also the bully’s brash boast
And hid from the bully at recess
And she ran down the road to the coast.
But Victor and the children all chased her
Just wanting to see what they would
And surrounded young Jenny on the shoreline.
Poor Jenny felt upset as she should.
“Wait,” she said, holding out her hand.
“If this is what you want to see,
But my head, if lost, will be exceedingly cross.
It’ll go much worse for you than for me.”
And with that she reached to the ribbon
And gave it a might strong tug
And her head fell down, all the way to the ground
And grinned up at them all like a bug.
Victor, he screamed out the loudest
And the children in fear ran away
And Jenny’s quick body chased them for fun
Her laughing head now leading the way.
And to this day if you see a green ribbon
Round someone’s neck so exceedingly fair
Never should you dare to give it a pull
If you do, for your life, have a care.
